8. The Story Thus Far

And there we have it, up to and including today.

Since that final Droolfest, my Parkinson’s symptoms have steadily increased.  I am at the point now where I cannot walk unassisted — by my wife, a cane or a walker — when I’m outside.  (I do OK here in the house.)  I freeze when walking.  I’m starting to have cognitive problems.  It’s a progressive disease.  And it’s progressing.

I had some trouble with the DBS programming last fall.

However, a visit with my neurologist in October fixed those problems.

As I said at the outset, this story will not have a happy ending. My Parkinson’s will continue to progress. My neurologist and I will continue to battle it. My wife will continue to offer her undying love and support.

And through this blog, you will see the high points, the low points, and everything in between.

So enjoy. And drop me a line from time to time!
