I’m Published, so I Guess This Means I’m Immortal

I’m Published, so I Guess This Means I’m Immortal

Even now as I search for an agent or a publisher for my latest novel, “Deep Brain Diary — My Life as a Guy with Parkinson’s Disease and Brain Surgery Volunteer,” I see that I am already immortal.
When I first heard of “Google Books”, I knew their aim was to ensure that they had practically [...]

Conservatives REALLY Want to Cut Spending… Except…

Conservatives REALLY Want to Cut Spending… Except…

Oh, how conservatives hate government spending.  It’s all you hear from the conservatives and their teabagger ilk!  Cut gubbermint spending!  Quit bankrupting our childrens’ future!  No more socialism!  No more taxes!  Cut Spending!  Cut Spending!  Cut Spending.  Conservatives really HATE “big government” and want to cut spending on it…
Except…
Rank-and-file conservatives actually like big government. [...]

Lo! The Snowicane Approacheth!

Lo! The Snowicane Approacheth!

The Snowicane. Not Much Snow, but OY! The WIND! Here in Elkridge, looks like we’re gonna dodge a bullet. Sorta. They lifted the winter storm watch and replaced it with a winter weather advisory here in central Maryland. The heaviest blitz of snow will be north of here, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and New England, where they will not only get the high winds, but upwards of 24-inches of snow.

Still, AccuWeather is saying it’s gonna be windier than a cheese eater’s colon here in the Balt-Wash area. Steady winds of 30-40 mph with gusts up to 60.

Snownado? Snowicane? Monster Storm Likely to Miss

Snownado? Snowicane? Monster Storm Likely to Miss

There’s a storm a-comin’! A Nor’Easter!

I’m not sure what’s worse than Snowmageddon or Snowpocalypse, but it seems like our neighbors to the north are going to experience something really, really BAD over the next 72 hours.

CBO: Stimulus Package Employed 2.1 Million

CBO: Stimulus Package Employed 2.1 Million

Bad News for the Bad News Brigade
I know how much my conservative friends, especially those on Facebook, LOVE to dig through the news looking for bad news because bad news about the economy is bad news for Obama, and they really don’t LIKE Obama, so if there’s GOOD news that’s GOOD for Obama, well, that’s [...]

Joe Stack: Right Wing Hero?

Joe Stack: Right Wing Hero?

Joe Stack:  Hero?
Gail and I were out and about this afternoon, and we made a stop at a liquor store.  As I waited in line, a gent of about my age (wearing shorts in the cold weather for some reason) was talking to the cashier.  He was going on and on about how what Joe [...]

Joe Stack, Texas Terrorist?

Joe Stack, Texas Terrorist?

A guy named Joe Stack set his house on fire, steals an airplane, crashes into an IRS building.
Now, I have no way to know if this is authentic.  It was on this site — http://embeddedart.com/ (The website is dead now.)
If this is authentic, Joe Stack had a beef with the government.  A “TEABAG” kind of [...]

Republicans Slam the Stim, Beg for Bucks

Republicans Slam the Stim, Beg for Bucks

The Stimulus Hypocrite’s Hymn
by Bill Schmalfeldt
The stimulus is fascist.
The stimulus is socialist.
The stimulus is unAmerican.
Now cut me a check for the folks back home!
The stimulus is unconstitutional.
The stimulus is wrecking the economy.
The stimulus means the end of freedom.
Now take my picture with the oversized check!
The stimulus will never get my support.
The stimulus is a dismal [...]

Public Blames GOP Dogs for Crapping on Rug

Public Blames GOP Dogs for Crapping on Rug

It’s a metaphor I’ve used before.  Listening to Republicans kvetching about President Obama’s struggle to repair the economy they ruined is a lot like getting barked at by the dogs who crapped on the carpet because you aren’t cleaning it quickly enough.
When one REMINDS the yapping mongrels that there wouldn’t BE crap on the rug [...]

Billy the Snitch!

Billy the Snitch!

OK, enough is enough.  It is now a week — a WEEK — since the first of the two snowstorms, and there STILL has not been a snow plow through this trailer park.  TJ managed to get to work this morning, but said it was a hassle getting out of the park.  All the other [...]

Back in Business Tomorrow

Back in Business Tomorrow

Government is back in business tomorrow.  It’s still “liberal leave” but at least stuff will get done.
Who am I kidding?  I’ve been busier these last few days of “Government Closed” than I usually am on a regular day.
Today, for instance.  I recorded the soundbites for a podcast I’ll produce tomorrow about how the NIH Clinical [...]

Sometimes the Jokes Write Themselves!

Sometimes the Jokes Write Themselves!

This photograph was taken at a Sarah Palin rally as she stumps for Texas Governor (and fellow attractive dumbass) Rick Perry.
(And if I have to tell you what’s wrong with this sign, chances are YOU were “homescholed” TOO!)
And yet, the pundits say we should be cautious as we point to the intellectual deficit inherent in [...]

Guess What! It’s SNOWING! AGAIN!

Guess What! It’s SNOWING! AGAIN!

It seems as if the second part of this Snowmageddon has descended upon us.  The snow started falling in earnest at about 4 or so.  There’s been about 2 inches so far, and they’re calling for 6 to 10 during the overnight with total accumulations of 12 to 18.
The government will be closed again tomorrow… [...]
