There’s a letter to the editor in the online version of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that I believe should get wide distribution.

Dear Pat Robertson, I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I’m all over that action. But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I’m no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth — glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven’t you seen “Crossroads”? Or “Damn Yankees”? If I had a thing going with Haiti, there’d be lots of banks, skyscrapers, SUVs, exclusive night clubs, Botox — that kind of thing. An 80 percent poverty rate is so not my style. Nothing against it — I’m just saying: Not how I roll. You’re doing great work, Pat, and I don’t want to clip your wings — just, come on, you’re making me look bad. And not the good kind of bad. Keep blaming God. That’s working. But leave me out of it, please. Or we may need to renegotiate your own contract. Best, Satan

It was written by Lily Coyle of Minneapolis, and she’s a genius.

A friend of mine on Facebook makes the following suggestion…

Do something delicious today. Call Pat Robertson’s “700 Club” @ 1 (800) 759-0700 to give your opinion of his comments about Haiti. Or his comments about anything for that matter. It costs them about $1 to pick up each 800 call. A million calls costs them a million dollars. Tell your friends! (Re-post it!)

So, call.  Tell whoever answers that you are Satan.  And you are DISPLEASED!

We were watching Olbermann last night, and he played a clip of noted drug-using racist Rush Limbaugh telling his listeners that it was a bad idea to donate money to charities to be used for relief in Haiti.

In his office, sipping a martini, my stepson TJ heard the remark.  A few seconds later, he popped into the living room.

“F*ck that fatass,” he said.  “I just donated $25 to the Red Cross.”

Both Gail and I told him how proud we are to have raised a son with such a good heart.

You can donate $10 by texting 9-0-9-9-9 — every little bit helps.  Do it now!

In some cases, the usual “Me Hatee Obama” suspects are adopting the old standard “If You Can’t Say Something Nice, Say Nothing.”

Just so we all have an idea of what Haiti went through in t he last 48 hours, here’s video of the quake.

So, how is “Hate Net” handling the crisis?

On Michelle Malkin’s “Hot Air” website?  NOT ONE WORD about America’s response to the disaster.  LOTS of mocking about Obamacare and the Mass. Senatorial Election and OTHER conservative yapping points.  NOTHING about Haiti, other than video of the quake and a report about Pat Robertson’s senile blathering about “pacts with the devil.”  And they must be monitoring their comments section, because the commentors have been unusually civil and humane.

Pajamas Media?  NOT ONE WORD about the disaster!!!

Red State?  Other than an appeal to solicit donations for Haiti, NOT ONE WORD about American response.

Drudge Report?  Other than linking to hard news reports about the disaster, NOT ONE WORD about America’s response!

You have to go to out-of-the-way little crap-piles like “Newsbusters” to see any REAL “reporting” on the issue.  For instance, THIS piece of crap by Brent Baker slamming Keith Olbermann for having the TEMERITY to criticize Mr. Limbaugh for saying that Obama was delighting in the Haiti tragedy.

After smearing Rush Limbaugh as a “deranged racist,” Olbermann teased Wednesday night’s Countdown: “We are reminded of what health care reform really means by an awful message of nightmarish reality from a place, a place this time not so very far away.”

Brent?  Since you’re pretending to be a journalist, let me offer a little advice.  It’s not “smearing” if it’s TRUE!  To say that Obama will use this crisis to “burnish his credentials with the light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country” is DERANGED and RACIST!

Following the 7.0 earthquake that leveled Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and claimed countless lives, perhaps thousands, radio host Rush Limbaugh said the following: “This will play right into Obama’s hands. Humanitarian, compassionate. They’ll use this to, to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community, the both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in, in this country. It’s made-to-order for him. That’s why he couldn’t wait to get out there, could not wait to get out there.”

Brent, Limbaugh’s racism isn’t even in QUESTION!

Moreover, Rush Limbaugh has made numerous racist comments over the years. Once he told a black caller on his radio show to “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.” On another occasion he asked his audience: “Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?” Of civil rights groups, he said that “The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.” Limbaugh– who was dropped from a group bidding for the St. Louis Rams football franchise– referred to the NFL as “a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons.” He also called basketball “the favorite sport of gangs.” And in recent years, he has enjoyed playing the song “Barack the Magic Negro” on the air.

To criticize Obama — like Limbaugh and Faux News did — for responding immediately to a crisis where tens, if not hundreds of thousands are dead while taking a few days to respond to an idiot lighting his underwear on fire on an airplane is ridiculous.  (And displays the famous conservative amnesia, since Bush took DAYS to respond to Katrina and LONGER than Obama did to respond to the idiot who set his SHOE on fire on an airplane.)

So, looks like. with the exception of the idiot Brent Baker, the GOP Yapping Hounds AGREE that Rush Limbaugh went a little far yesterday with his knee-jerk, hateful response to the massive loss of life and destruction in Haiti.

This video from “the Young Turks” nails it.

Haiti was practically destroyed by an earthquake yesterday.

Instead of using this as an occasion to come together as human beings, two notable conservative hate-mongers are using this to stoke their particular brand of hatred.

On the 700 Club today, Pat Robertson — the taste of having said God caused 9/11 to punish America for gays and abortion still in his mouth — said this

ROBERTSON: [S]omething happened a long time ago in Haiti and people might not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French. Napoleon the Third and whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, “We will serve you if you get us free from the prince.” True story. And so the devil said, “OK, it’s a deal.” They kicked the French out, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free.  But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor. That island of Hispaniola is one island. It’s cut down the middle, on the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc. Haiti is in desperate poverty. Same island.

So, a pact with the Devil, made during Napoleon’s time, made God kill 1oo,o00 or so yesterday.  Mmm.  Robertson’s gonna have some ’splaining to do.

The other hate monger?  Rush Limbaugh.

Obama will use Haiti to boost credibility with “light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country”… After earthquake, Rush says Haiti produces “zilch, zero, nada,” asks when Obama will call for Aristide to be returned
