One of THOSE Mornings…

One of THOSE Mornings…

This morning is one of those mornings when I ask myself a series of questions.
1.  Why am I more tired now than I was when I went to bed?
2.  Why do I feel so hungover when I haven’t been drunk in years, and haven’t had a sip of alcohol in days?
3.  Why do my arms [...]

Hallucinatory MICE Now?

Hallucinatory MICE Now?

Standing at the sink, pouring myself a Pepsi.  Out of the corner of my left eye, I see a mouse run out of the closed cabinet door beneath the sink.  He’s black and not all that big, and I can see his tail as he hurries toward the doggie gate.
I turn and look.
No mouse.
Is this [...]

DBS in Early PD Study to Expand

DBS in Early PD Study to Expand

Long-time readers know that I was one of the 30 people taking part in a phase I clinical trial of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of early-stage Parkinson’s disease.  I was one of the 15 randomized to have the surgery, while 15 other volunteers were randomized to the control group, to continue their standard [...]

So Now I’m Seein’ SPOOKS?

So Now I’m Seein’ SPOOKS?

Hallucinations, Drooling and Shopping.
Rough day for Billy, and it’s barely 10 am!
I’ve been congested and hacky all morning because I have trouble with my night time, shall we say, “secretions.”  We were at the grocery store and I had a throat spasm.  I bent over and hacked like I had a lung coming up.  And, [...]

Weird Sounds — From My Throat!

Weird Sounds — From My Throat!

It’s early in the morning.  I’m laying on my left side.  Comfortable.  Not quite asleep, but not quite awake.  I notice a sound.
“heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”
It’s a high-pitched, melodious sort of whistling sound.
“heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”
And it’s coming from my throat.  Every time I exhale.
“heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.  heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”
Right in the area of my voice box, something is causing the air to [...]

Yikes! Lung Spasm!

Yikes! Lung Spasm!

(Side note:  Now that my book “Deep Brain Diary” is being published, do I add the entries I make from now on to the proof copy I’ll be reviewing in a couple weeks, or do I just consider this the starting point for the sequel?  Oh, the problems…)
Had a delicious Wendy’s “Frosty” with my lunch [...]

My Next Book: Coming Soon!

My Next Book: Coming Soon!

Sometime in April, if not sooner, you will be able to purchase a lovely hardback volume of stuff I wrote.
Time is of the essence, I’m not getting any younger, stronger or healthier, and I just don’t feel like I have years to sit around and wait to find an agent who is interested, then wait [...]

Parky Bill’s Kitchenside Chat, March 1, 2010

I got off to a late start today because my wife took HER shower first and I needed to allow time for the water to heat up.  Of course, laying around and drinking delicious cappuccino had nothing whatsoever to do with the delay.
Now, TAKE THE POLL, then enjoy the video!

Deep Brain Diary — the Novel — FINISHED!

Deep Brain Diary — the Novel — FINISHED!

This is a book I’ve been writing, mostly on this blog and others, since February 2007. And today, I feel like it’s ready to be shopped out to an agent or a publisher.

This is my first effort at non-fiction. I have one published fiction novel “…by the people…” (which you can check out by clicking the link… it’s cheap, funny and good! And cheap. Did I say, “Cheap”?). I’ve written several other novels, screenplays and stage plays which sit gathering dust in various boxes around the house.

Parky Bill’s Kitchenside Chat, Feb. 23, 2010

Parky Bill’s Kitchenside Chat, Feb. 23, 2010

Had quite a disturbing episode of chest congestion last night.  I have this damn post nasal drip all day, I’m having trouble swallowing this excess saliva I produce, so by the evening my chest sounds like a baby’s rattle.
Not that I’m complaining, mind you.
